September 1st, 2025 by

When you start your Mazda to run errands around St. Petersburg, the engine gets its initial power from the car battery. Unfortunately, when it’s no longer working properly, you may not be able to start your vehicle at all. That’s why here at Mazda of Clearwater we recommend a battery test and inspection courtesy of our Service Department!

Warning Signs

Before your battery is no longer capable of providing charge, you may notice warning signs that it is slowly weakening. For example, when you go to start your Mazda CX-50, CX-30, or CX-70, and you notice that it sputters before finally starting up, it’s best to schedule a battery test and inspection as soon as possible. The battery also powers critical systems, such as lights, AC, and windshield wipers. If you notice any issues with these the aforementioned features, the culprit could be the battery. Finally, you can pop the hood, and check the battery for signs of corrosion. This type of damage can negatively affect it, so it’s best to to resolve this issue quickly.

Battery Test Process

If you’ve noticed any of these warning signs or you haven’t checked the battery in a while, schedule a service appointment with our team! Our experienced technicians have the right tools for the task. They use an electric multimeter to evaluate the charge levels of the battery. If it’s below the recommended amount and can no longer maintain its charge, we will encourage you to replace it with a new part. This way, you can feel certain that your Mazda is ready to go cruising to Vinoy Park at a moment’s notice. We’ll use genuine OEM replacements so that your vehicle can perform optimally.

Battery Inspection Process

In addition to testing the battery, our team will also perform a thorough physical inspection of the battery and its surrounding area. Sometimes, it’s not low charge that prevents power from reaching the intended systems, but rather damage due to corrosion, debris, or broken wires. If everything is in proper order, we’ll turn our attention to energy drains, such as faulty wiring to a cabin or cargo light. To get you back on your normal routes to Mainlands Golf Course, we’ll repair any of these issues. If you have any questions about your battery, we invite you to use our Ask a Tech form!
